They can't do to Swannie what they did to Steele. First, the national media will pick it up. This will hit ESPN and we will see what happens. Swann is an affable guy and no matter his politics, sports guys like him and will not say a bad word against him. Most of them. Some sportswriters will be smoked out.

For the long-term health of the GOP, Swann, being famous and well-liked will break the monopoly that the Dems have over black voters. Even if 25% of blacks do not vote Dem, that party will never be able to elect a president or have more than 40 Senators. Ever.
