Can Specter call Judiciary Committee hearings during these "closed sessions"?

Yes. Again, the Pubs can re-open the session by a simple majority vote. Probably what they're doing right now.

Is it possible for the pubs to conduct business without dems? Do we really need them for anything? Don't we have the majority?
