This is all about defeating Alito. Why do you think they want to delay his confirmation until after the new year?

They are laying the groundwork for a public call for impeachment. They will base it all on the war started because the President lied to them and everyone else... and this time it's not about sex.

Next, even if they don't get impeachment hearings, they will say that no President who has the cloud of looming impeachment should be able to have life time appointments confirmed. Therefore, they need to filibuster for the good of the union....

Then they'll argue that the nation can get by with only eight justices on the Supreme Court for a while, nowhere in the Constitution does it require any number of justices.
