Are there any Sunshine laws that can reveal to the public what went on in the Senate for those two hours? Or is that something that this "rule 21" overrides?
"Or is that something that this "rule 21" overrides?"
As a matter of fact, rule 21 demands secrecy. The closed sessions are only for matters of national security and must remain secret. No phones, pagers, or other electronic recording devices are allowed in the Senate during rule 21 closed sessions.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, my memory ain't what it used to be, but isn't this just what those Dem. e-mails that were uncovered a year or so ago said they were supposed to do? That is, to cause any and all kinds of obstructions to prevent Pres. Bush from appointing a conservative justice.
