Wait a minute! this Wilson /Pflame leak thing did not concern going to war. It happened in the summer of 2004 and was about the presidential election.

Well, it's about time Frist got mad.

Ditto. He has been way too polite with the Dims. I only wish we had a Senate leader like the Hammer in the house. Could you imagine DeLay as Senate leader? He'd be mopping the floor with the Dims about now.

One immediate thought:

How many of the Secret Sessions were held to advocate the overthrow of an elected President during a war?

Is it possible for the pubs to conduct business without dems? Do we really need them for anything? Don't we have the majority?

But I don't understand how it could work. Each person who was forced to leave their position, would be replaced by someone else. (Frist &/or Delay would be replaced, and their replacement would be next in line.) Unless there was some huge empeachment of all republicans in the line succession all on one day, I don't understand how your theory is possible.

Maybe Frist did allow it on purpose to give the Republicans the talking points that the Dems are stopping the business of the country trying to settle politcal scores.

From a Slate article.

That special power has been construed by many presidents to extend to vacancies in the Supreme Court. The first recess appointment to the court occurred in 1795 when President Washington appointed John Rutledge chief justice while the Senate was in recess. Since then, 11 Supreme Court justices have been put on the bench in the same way—including Chief Justice Earl Warren, who was appointed by President Eisenhower in 1953.

Maybe everyone in Congress should just indict everyone else and make it a big party.

...(MORE)... this is in no way something that has to be done at this time in this way...(he's pissed, too)... has to do more with settling a score than anything else... (another senator)... shows to what lengths Dems will go to keep from cutting their budget... this is purely political, settling a score from 2004 elections... Dems can't move on but have to settle a score... Dems just show obstructionism...more...

The Dems have angered Lott. Bad move. Lott may not be my fav guy, but he doesn't stand for this kind of move.

Lott now on hannity unmasking them.

Dems running across Texas lines over redistricting. Trying to convict people for being Republicans. now shutting down the Senate because we didn't elect them. Hey DIMWITS! This is why you aren't in charge!

The Alito nomination revived my spirits, this stunt has just confirmed I'm going to do my best to elect every Republican no matter how I feel about them to the U.S. Senate. Dems want to play this game? Prepare to have an ever shrinking minority!
