It appears that only two Senators are needed to do this. One makes the motion, the other seconds. Done deal.

It also appears they could do this every day.

Could this be the way they've chosen to fillibuster the Alito nomination? Essentially, they could shut down the Senate indefinitely in order to block Alito. They would simultaneously claim to be investigating the Plame affair as a way to muddy the water and damage the President at the same time.

This is, indeed, the political equivalent of Armageddon. It shows why the Bush Administration was trying a stealth candidate instead. When that did not work, the Bush Administration said OK, let's rumble.

I think we are now in the biggest political fight since the Civil War.

BOY...have you brought up the MAIN thing...

The GOP shouldn't have been so off guard...but, now it is over...

Frist needs to do whatever is legal to legally smack them down...BUT, since the dems can lie on TV with impunity..the GOP need to point out EVERY SINGLE LIE...

even if it means a sort of filibuster...where they keep the Senate in session as every Republican senator brings out quotes and articles proving the lies that these dems are spreading!!!

Isn't there something very wrong about a Senate Minority Leader (in wartime) accusing the C-i-C of lying to the troops?

Disgusting behavior. He needs to be reprimanded. It's a very sad time in America when the United States Senate has been reduced to what it is today. You can barely find a statesman among them.

Carl Levin looking over his glasses; "intelligence was FALSE in many many ways..... it's that subject which I think is quite clearly the reason the Administration has come down hard not finishing Phase II of this investigation...."

Durbin:

purpose of closed session

to get commitment from leadership to hold a complete phase 2 investigation

part 5, to determine whether testimony that was used to make the case foro Iraq was substantiated by intelligence, or whether the Admin went way past the intelligence and LIED. whether they exaggerated intelligence...

Durbin, Levin up now singing same old song about bad intelligence, relationship between Al Qaeda and Saddam, WMDs, etc. Want a guarantee in writing that there will be another investigation.

Your last question is the Key tht unlocks that particular puzzle.

Now that Fitzgerald has criminalized politics by indicting Libby, FORCE him to apply the same standard to violations of the Hatch act, in the genesis of this controversy.

The CIA Sent Wilson, a KNOWN POLITICAL QUANTITY, who made statements at odds with his Editorial between the trip, and the time he gave the Editorial, and never required a confidentiality agreement. They wanted him to say what he said, and more the likely what he said was written with the
end goal in mind....

This was the CIA hatching a plot to detract from the Administrations political course.

C-Span should be showing her on a loop. That would improve their ratings. Of course, then they'd have to change their name to Double D-Span.

Plame may well just be the excuse to have a secret session. They could be talking about anything. Heck, maybe they are talking about the unsinkable Able Danger story.

It's a sad sad state of affairs when members of our "elected" government throw our lives and those of our sons and daughters down the drain for the sake of their own power plays. It makes me sick to my stomach.

I agree, it is no time to laugh, it is time to get angry at the minority party for obstruction of government in time of war. This has the potential, with the MSM being what it is, to tear this country apart. However, it is equally likely the Democrats have overplayed their hand. Next I predict they will call for a Muslim Caliphate. That seems to be the ultimate direction of the left.

I agree. What form do you think this civil war is going to take, and how long before it spills into the streets?

Reporter asked why now to do this

Durbin says tomorrow is one year since the election .. that Roberts said phase 2 couldn't start because of the election
