Aloha, Finest FRiends.

I am so happy to go back to Hawaii, Billie! You don't have to ask me twice (well, I guess you did, since I was awol yesterday, LOL). Your presentation is beautiful, and I still can't quite get over that gradient background. I am as impressed as I was the first time you posted it. :-)

It's been about 15 years since we visited there, time to go back again.

For those who haven't been to Hawaii and are planning a trip, I would recommend the Polynesian Cultural Center if you are interested in the history of the islands....

It is located in the northern part of Oahu. And, while there, take a glider ride over nearby Sunset Beach. It was the highlight of our visit. :-)

Now, I think I will find a beach chair and sip a Mai Tia.

You know, as much as I have travelled, I have not yet been to Hawaii!! I would love to go and dive with the whales and see Lahaina. If you have never read it, I highly recommend Michener's "Hawaii". xoxoxoxoxo

Hey sis! So happy to see you here, and thank you again for saying you're impressed with the gradient background. You remember I was nervous about it the first time, not knowing if it was going to look tacky or if it blended as well for most others; I knew that you and I had slightly different sized text, so it put me at ease to hear that it looked okay on your screen, too.

Now.....can I join you with one of those mai tai's?! :)

Mai Tai Recipes
This is Trader Vic's Original Mai Tai recipe. You'll note that there's nary a drop of orange or pineapple juice. For this reason, Mai Tais made with any sort of juice (besides lime juice) are not "true" Mai Tais.

The Original Formula - 1944

2 ounces of 17-year old J. Wray & Nephew Rum over shaved ice.
Add juice from one fresh lime.
1/2 ounce Holland DeKuyper Orange Curacao.
1/4 ounce Trader Vic's Rock Candy Syrup.
1/2 ounce French Garier Orgeat Syrup
Shake vigorously.
Add a sprig of fresh mint

"Old Way" Mai Tai Formula - 1997

1 ounce Fine Jamaican Rum (15 or 8 year old)
1 ounce Martinique Rum (St. James)
1/2 ounce Orange Curacao
1/2 ounce Orgeat Syrup
Juice from one fresh lime (about 3/4 ounce)
Mix and serve as in the Original Formula
