UNDER-FIRE MP George Galloway is in talks to have a Hollywood movie made about his life.
The Scot - who is facing claims that he took cash from Saddam Hussein - has met with US actor and director Sean Penn to discuss the project.
Galloway sidekick Ron McKay is also to feature in the film, which documents their early days in Dundee through to their infamous meetings with the Iraqi dictator.
Film chiefs hope to cash in on Galloway's popularity since he blasted the US Senate over Iraq.
McKay, a writer who shares a flat with Galloway in London, said"Sean Penn took us to his mansion and we all had a good laugh - George and Sean really hit it off.
"I have suggested Danny de Vito plays George and George Clooney plays me. I have no idea how serious it is though - we're both a bit busy with other things."
Galloway is under criminal investigation over allegations that he lied to the US Senate when he denied benefitting from Saddam's oil-for-food programme.
Senate committee chairman Norm Coleman has referred the Respect MP for Bethnal Green and Bow to the US Department of Justice and federal prosecutors The committee also sent a copy of their report to Sir Phillip Marr, the standards commissioner for the House of Commons.
The report claims Galloway's now-estranged wife received £84,000 from oil allocations and the Mariam charity he set up got £248,000 from the same source.
There is no suggestion Galloway benefited personally from Iraqi oil, but if he is found guilty of perjury, he could face up to five years in jail.
Last night, a defiant Galloway said: "I call for and beg them to charge me with perjury.
"The perjurers and liars are all in the White House and the Senate. All I say is, I will see them in court
You can't go wrong with a happy ending, for example that of William Joyce.
Huh??? Earth to Sean.....Earth to Sean.......
We may yet see. Galloway is up to his yarbles in oil-fer-food. But I've a feeling his treasons are yet incomplete. He ain't done.
Well, this will get Hollywood out of its slump. This has excitement written all over it!
My advice to Mr. Penn is not to bend over quite so far when bailing out the bass boat, know whumsayin?
So far, it looks sort of familiar...
