ALERT:Iran not afraid of war, sanctions

TEHRAN: Iran is unfazed by the threat of war or sanctions over its disputed nuclear programme and mounting international pressure has only hardened its resolve, a senior official said yesterday. “They must understand that such an attitude will only persuade us more to have nuclear technology,” said top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani, responding to widespread condemnation of comments by President Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad. Iran has been bombarded with complaints after Nejad last week called for Israel to be “wiped off the map” – comments that increased concerns over the country’s bid to master nuclear fuel technology. “There won’t be a war. They do not have the means to go to war on two fronts,” Larijani was quoted as saying by the student news agency ISNA in a reference to the continued hostilities faced by US-led forces in neighbouring Iraq. “Iran is a hard target,” insisted Larijani, who was addressing a seminar on nuclear energy. “If they think they can limit us by oil sanctions or other sanctions, they are wrong. Oil sanctions will only increase the price of oil,” he added. Iran says it only wants to develop nuclear power for electricity generation, but the United States and European Union fear Iran is using the fuel cycle as a means to acquire an atomic bomb. They are pushing for the matter to be referred to the UN Security Council. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) approved a resolution last September calling on Iran to either stop all nuclear activities or face probable sanctions at the United Nations Security Council. – AFP

We won't need to get a Russian OK for Iran. Heres what we'll do, hit their nuclear reactors, and uranium facilities, and wait for them to declare war on us.

I think the strategy for this war needs to change. We invaded Iraq too fast. Thats right too fast. This time we need a small forward advance force (aka Special ops, and marines) to move around taking out threats, while we let the Iranians gather their supporters for battle. Either we let them organize them kill them all, or we quickly win, the fanatics who want us dead, stay at home, so 6 months later they can blow up a bus.

I imagine unpleasant scenarios that proceed without Russia's blessing. The realities of a nuclear-capable Iran firing on Israel are not allowable. We and Israel will stop Iran, and Russia will just have to do what Russia will have to do.

I will sound like a fool no doubt, but I am guessing that Iran will test a nuclear device in November 2005.

Shortly thereafter they will announce medium range delivery capability for nulears.

Home made or off the shelf matters not when dealing in megatons.

The danger isn't that Iran would use the bomb in an official state capacity. It is that they will supply it to untraceable shadow organizations such as al-Qaeda who would not hestitate to detonate the bomb in a city.

Iran would deny that they ever had a bomb, let alone that they ever supplied it to a proxy group. They will, in my opinion, become an undeclared nuclear power--everyone will know they have 'em, but the fiction will be maintained.

Oh, gadz. They understand the left soooo well. "If you bug Iran, it'll just make them want nukes. It's all your fault!" "If we go to war with Iraq, it'll make the terrorists soooooo mad at us!" "If you spank little Johnny, he'll feel bad about himself. Give him candy when he's bad - that ALWAYS works!"

These Mullahs are really stuck on stupid. if they continue on their current course, Israel may just turn them into a huge Crater. My best guess is that the Israeli's will not ask permission from the UN. Amen.

"I think that unfortunately he is right."

The despots and their army in Iran will be feeling rather lonely by the time we acknowledge their invitations.
