It is not the job of the WH press secy to be confrontational. In fact it would be a big mistake for him to get mixed up in a verbal joust with reporters. It is exactly what they want and would be a losing situation no matter what the provocation where.

I agree with petitfour 100%. I'm not asking that the WH press secy be confrontational, but it is obvious to most everyone that the press corp runs rough shod over McClellan and he LETS them. It's gotten to be a sport amongst the elite media as to who can get bolder with their insulting disrespectful questions and remarks every time he holds a presser.

While McClellan seems to be a nice guy, he's not capable of handling these media @ssholes without that deer-in-the-headlights look. He's in way over his head and should be replaced.

Up to a point I agree. But they shouldn't tolerate some of the crap these reporters spout.

I can think of 10 different ways to ask tough questions regarding the SCOTUS nomination without using the term "sloppy seconds".

Professionals need to act like professionals. If I was the head of CBS news I would remove Roberts from the White House to make a point to my staff that the old ways will not be tolerated.

It is the job of the White House press secretary to stay on message and to get the administration's message out. There is nothing wrong with a press secretary exhibiting a bit of personality.
