Those who believe they cannot learn from others generally don't.

That's all fine too, but when your job is to interpret the U.S. Constitution that's what you should stick with.

How does interpreting the Constitution equate to learning nothing of other legal codes? Besides the Constitution does not define "cruel and unusual punishment" that must be derived from other sources. And that was the issue in the child murderer case.

I agree that cases should not be DECIDED based upon other codes but that is not what happened.
