Really, I don't see replacing the RINOs as the big thing to do. I see taking some or all of those 11 southern democrat seats in strong red States as the big thing. That will happen the next few years, and that will marginalize the RINOs and make their votes unnecessary. 8)
I'm so happy today. This is wonderful! RATS are on suicide watch and this is an outstanding pick..........And yes, I was wrong I thought the president would pick......Scooter Libby!!!..........(just kidding)......
I don't either. The only person I can remotely think of would be Rumsfeld as he served under Nixon and Ford.
They won't do it.
The D's are three Senate votes away from the R's not having that option in the next Congress. If they filibuster, the Nuke Option will be launched and it will take out the Judicial filibuster forever. To reinstate it would take the majority party doing that, and why would a majority party do that, right?
Scalito is in. That simple. The D's are praying Stevens doesn't die before the next Congress.
I am so Proud of President Bush. He made such an excellent choice, that will not only benefit our Country today but for future generations.
Thank You President Bush
That is a very good point. The key is to make sure that any new Republicans in southern seats are truly conservative and not moderate or chaotic like our good friend Linsdey Graham.
Unfortunately, even conservative senators tend to go moderate once they get in the senate. I think it is because the Senate is run as country club rather than a legistlive body. In order to get the prime committee assignments, a freshman senator has to just get along and not make waves.
Here...here...thank you President Bush for righting a wrong. We are behind you and this pick 110%!
I think you are right and it's a good thing, too.
That's hysterical!
That's creepy!
They must be getting a little long in the tooth since our troop presence in Vietnam ended in 1973.
"The key is to make sure that any new Republicans in southern seats are truly conservative and not moderate or chaotic like our good friend Linsdey Graham."
Or like our Mel Martinez, here in Florida, who has been disappointing so far.
I just watched the video of Alito's acceptance speech. The Democrats are in for another disappointment if they think they are going to Bork this honorable, likable, well spoken judge. I almost feel sorry for them because they will have to explain . . . oh, never mind. They will not have to explain anything.
RNC has been pouring out the emails today with comments -- I cannot believe the number I have received from RNC Research on all the pro-comments and then the Dem comments -- they never pushed the Miers nomination like this one which is beginning to make me wonder. I thought at the time their silence was deafening -- I had a few emails from them on Miers but not the volume I have received just today on Alito.
Happy Scalitoween!!!
Fine...I assume you're talking about one issue.
Does this mean she should never speak on public policy? That is the subject of the discussion I was involved in.
Take what ever you want TS. Take what EVER you want today. Merry Alitomas!!!! Thank you MR President for this early Christmas Present!
The addition of Alito would make Kennedy the swing vote on the court. We still need one more solid conservative to swing the court favorably to the right.
