"I think it's wrong to believe that Johnson wanted war," Mr. McNamara said. Signifiant achievements of Robert S. MacNamara. As head of the Ford Motor Division and Ford Motor Corporation:
- The Edsel
- The Ford Falcon
- Cancelling Lee Iacocca's idea, the Mustang (it was reinstated after Mac left).
As Secretary of Defense:
- Vietnam
- The bodycount/attrition "strategy"
- "MacNamara's 100,000" or "Let's let people who are clinically retarded into the Army and Marines and see how they do!"
- The TFX program ("let's use the same plane as a fighter, bomber, have it land on carriers and need 11,000 foot runways, and cancel everything else!").
- Cancelling the Manned Orbiting Laboratory and Dyna-Soar
- ...and more stuff than I could list... the internet will run out of room before any student of national defense could list MacNamara's failures.
As head of the World Bank:
- Wild lending to Third World kleptocratic governments
- The concomitant defaults
- The World Bank bailout that followed from the above like a train on a track.
- Continuing his Vietnam tradition of leading-by-statistic without reference to reality.
In looking at the career of Robert Strange MacNamara, you are hard pressed to find a single worthwhile achievement or success. He might have failed at one thing, but he also failed at all the others. And he sure failed big.
To sum the man up: a total waste of sperm and egg.

I don't know that "McNamara's Morons" (as referenced in STOLEN VALOR)were restricted to Army/USMC. I believe some went Navy. As I understand few were sent to Vietnam. Although for a time, USMC had a two-year enlistment. The dates of these two programs are close together...

"In looking at the career of Robert Strange MacNamara, you are hard pressed to find a single worthwhile achievement or success. He might have failed at one thing, but he also failed at all the others. And he sure failed big."You have incorrectly assumed that RSM was trying to do the right thing.
Instead, try assuming that he was trying to subvert our Constitution, sink our country's effort in Vietnam, and build the case for globalism.
Kinda puts his achievements in a whole new light, doesn't it?
