The relevance to the original article to the thread is, if you read it, makes the point NO CRIME WAS COMMITED based on the leak-law design.
He's being charged with other things than the orgianl allegation. That's the relevance.

I'd agree with you generally. But in this case we have a CIA agent with a "classified" job engaged in an out and out shooting war with the sitting president of the US and actively participating in a political race.
When your being sniped at from someone who thinks that they are behind a border, ie. syrians in Iraq, cambodians in nam, etc., you say bloody hell and go get their a$$e$. This is the same thing.
It is not right to out classified people. But classified people may also abuse their power.
I can't for the life of me grasp why the story isn't the CIA was influencing a presidential election. Other than they were trying to elect a democrat.
Both of those statements are true. If Plame abused her power, she should be prosecuted or otherwise punished. "Outing" her, however, is not the appropriate punishment - because it "punishes" the nation's intelligence apparatus as a whole. If done knowingly and intentionally, it's illegal.

Cheney is as smart as anyone I've ever seen.
VP Cheney trusted Wolfowitz...of whom Libby was his student.
Libby was also pro-Israel and pro-war-in-Iraq...and had a good record working for GHWB in 1991.
Being pro-Israel and pro-Iraq war aren't exactly demonrat traits. Was Wolfowitz also at Cheney's side at those undisclosed locations?
