Letter to a Friend, or the Plame Affair
Self | 10/29/05 | tadowe

Posted on 10/29/2005 4:57:03 AM PDT by tadowe

Dear [Friend,]

Perhaps it is my experience in military intelligence which provides a perspective that other citizens can't see. In joining the Army Security Agency (ASA,) I was steeped in the rules governing security in documents, operations and in personal security.

From that viewpoint, it is obvious to me that the CIA is complicit in meddling in domestic politics. It is specially true, when you stop and think that Ms. Plame was/is also steeped in the performance of security, and most certainly if she had been, or was a 'covert agent.' Wilson, of course familiar with the importance of personal security and in consideration of the presumed status of her wife, would have consulted with her before going public with the 'information' that he did, in editorial. She, of course, with personal security in mind, and needing to determine exactly what information could be given by Joe, would have cleared it with her superiors; or else she acted independently, and in doing so endangered her own putative 'covert' status.

To me, and because I don't believe that they acted without some CIA 'authorization,' it means that this contretemps, this whole megillah is part and parcel of some idiot's 'plot;' some very smart idiot, but an idiot nonetheless (and not that any 'idiot' would necessarily be in the singular.)

Indeed, what kind of 'intelligence' is it, and how in depth and vetted, to send a well known ambassador to Niger, and to schmooze the officials? Yet, this is an 'operation' of the CIA and with a suggested by Ms. Plame? Then, to have some 'authority' given to engage such and 'in-depth' intelligence investigation? Is that the hallmark of a sophisticated and subtle operation to make real determination, some valid confirmation which would contradict years of other 'operations,' and data gathering? What level of 'authority' did this 'smooth' operation find an Okay?

Couple that with the observation that Wilson/Plame would have had to plan and clear information to be provided to the public. . .or else they acted solely on their own in revealing information about classified CIA operations, and then to claim some validity gained and vetted by having been that very same operation? Unreal!

In that case, the CIA (to whatever level of authority) is *only* complicit in attempting to cover that up. . .for their 'covert agent!'

The fact is that Wilson presented a very, very partisan opinion to the public of why the Whitehouse 'lied' when they claimed Iraq was seeking to expand its nuclear program. Of course, this very same 'claim,' as Wilson might call it, was provided by the CIA in the first place. Also, it was the CIA which cleared the speech making those claims that president Bush gave to the public. . .

Where was the cry of (Wilson) 'leaking' classified information gained in a CIA 'operation?'

Where was the outcry that he (Wilson) was endangering his wife's status as a 'covert agent?'

No. . .no outcry until the Whitehouse tried to show the bias, and hint at nepotism, at the very least -- and then the outcry was swift!

Then look! The CIA makes claims to some 'classified status' for Ms. Plame; as if commuting daily to Langley somehow qualifies an employee of being in a 'classified status.' Or, that her husbands public statements didn't, wouldn't 'out' her to any, even shallow, look at her as a spouse and what she did to make her living.

What results? The results are the appointment of an independent 'special counsel,' because the CIA is claiming 'classified status' for someone who could be easily identified, by name, by checking the Wilson, Plame marriage certificate -- or coincidentally heading towards Langley, some Monday morning. . .

How ridiculous is that? That the 'special' man attempts to convey some 'classified' status for someone who becomes involved in revealing themself, in the first place? Is this the quality of our 'covert agents?' Is a mother of twins, married to a heroic ambassador and leaker of classified CIA operations and information, who commutes to CIA headquarters every workday really fall into the category of 'classified?'

Anyway, I'm going on, but listen -- now they can spy on you, [Friend]. . .I think we need a Super Special Counsel. . .and Quick. . .

I remain;

[tadowe]

If I remember correctly it is a violation of federal procurement law for a employee to get a contract for their spouse or other relative.

But then that law must be only for those of us who are not democrats.

Didn't Bob Torricelli out a CIA agent and then lie about it?

This is what interests me. Victoria Toensing has been stating publicly (Sean Hannity's radio program for one) that this whole deal is the result of a plot by some anti-Bush people at the CIA to hurt the Administration or even influence the election.

If this is so, we have a real problem on our hands and all manner of heads should roll over at CIA.

I'm not talking termination; I am talking jail for extended periods.

This may be the case, but the fact is no one has asked an investigator to look into this matter. Fitz was charged to look into anyone who may have leaked a covert agents name, he came up empty on that, but what's interesting is he was also charged with nailing anyone who commited perjury of obstruction justice about the matter.

Libby was just plain stupid, or really just innocently got his timeline facts wrong...

This discusses the very thing that has been bothering me about the case.
Just what the hell is going on at the CIA that they are sending the high-profile (ex-diplomat of note) husband of an agent on a fact finding mission about something which he is not expert, then allow him to publish an op-ed full of lies and half-truths in the New York Times.

This is absolutely inviting investigation into how he was sent, who he knows, etc. This kind of work from the CIA is just too sloppy and heavy-handed to not be intentional.

The other thing that bothers me is that Wilson, because of his "undercover" wife, is given free reign to lie and slander the administration, but they are legally unable to even refute his claims. This whole investigation resulted in the White House's rightful attempt to defend themselves against lies being published in the nation's newspapers.

It is fundamentally unfair that there should be two sets of rules in place here: one for the one slandering, and one for the ones being slandered.

Thay statement is poorly written; but the implication is HUGH. What is the likelyhood that data derived by Wilson from a few days of conversations with a buddy in Niger, would validly contradict data derived from years of CIA, State Department, DI, and other intelligence gathering operations, not to mention foreign intelligence gathering operations? I would suspect somewhere around ZERO!

The real scandal in this matter is its treatment by Main Stream Media. So far Bob Woodward is the only one of stature who has broken lockstep with this treasonous cabal, to my knowledge. See:

I'm beginning to wonder if the CIA was involved in the "Fake Document" the French and Italians cooked up that started all this. I wonder what British intelligence knows.

Victoria Toensing also asks why Joe W wasn't required to sign a confidentiality agreement...

You have stated much of the reason for the power of the MSM. They do not care for "fairness", they want their agenda to move forward. Consider Rathergate and consider this affair. It is all of one piece. The CIA could never get away with this type of action unless their willing accomplices in the MSM are willing to carry their water and cover for them, and vice versa. What joins them all is their commitment to the leftist world-view.

Headline on Drudge today says the Wilson claims his wife's life has been threatened and they are looking for security. Probably want taxpayers to pay for it too.

Well, this taxpayer for one, would like some of my hard-earned, confiscated money to go into a clean-up effort within the CIA to clean house, get the CIA Inspector General off his duff and get to the bottom of what is now quite obviously a conspiracy within the CIA. Plame-Wilson-Grunwald-Cooper-Pincus-Bubba-Hillary-Kerry Campaign - c'mon, there's plenty of dots there. Remember: Bubba suggested that 'if you get Rove you get Bush, and JFK can win'. This is election manipulation at the highest levels in the intelligence community. Fitzpatrick got the wrong instructions. A REAL complain needs to be issued, triggering a REAL investigation into the REAL issues. There is a problem with the connection of Plame-Wilson-Kerry-Sandy Burglar. Help! Call 9-1-1!!!

Calls for investigation will never be acknowledged by the media, because who doesn't have some secrets the CIA can now investigate as easily as they promoted the 'investigation' which supposedly allowed Wilson to reveal that there was no contact by Iraq in discussing 'trade' with Niger. No reporter will ask Wilson, "Why do you, in your book: The Politics of Truth: etc., admit to knowing in 1999 that there were contacts between Iraq and Niger; even if you didn't know specifically who that contact was?" Indeed, as you can see from the Washington Post article, the Post reporters are more intent on misdirecting that boo boo, that Wilson later turned into a lie in saying he didn't find out any confirmation of 'trade' between Saddam and Niger officials! This article, my 'Letter,' will slide off the front page, here, because who wants to answer, electronically, if the CIA can now start an investigation on them. . .? See you patriots, later. . .

Not only does that kind of law apply only to us but for almost eighty years now and, since the time of the traitor, Roosevelt, absolutely, the entire feral gummint bureacracy has been owned operated and controlled by and for activist "Democrats" -- and for their friends and fellow fiends and families.

Fitz is a Democrat HACK.

No he's not...He did his job...He was charged with investigating Perjury, and OOB along with finding out if a COVERT agent was outed.

Libby appears to have stupidly, intentionally lied, probably because he didn't know the law.

Plame wasn't even called to the garnd jury...Wilson is a complete liar, and Fitz the hack took Russert, Miller and that sack of crap Cooper's word over Libby's. It's a CIA plot to overthrown Bush, and it almost worked, and now they have this clown brteathing down their necks and NO ONE will want to talk about anything!
