Robert Bork was nominated by Ronald Reagan he came with a vast amount of experience and writing and the democrat controlled senate and the left wing interest groups went after him like a Pit bull on a T bone, He was voted out of committee without recommendation and voted down on the floor as I recall. He's a very Pessimistic man, His book Slouching towards Gomorrah while making some good points will leave you in a depression that it will take years of therapy to recover from if read cover to cover.

I have to agree. I love reading about Con law, but Slouching is absolutely turgid. However, it was a fairly early work (1996) in the public or general-audience discussion about the Court's turn towards imperialism and away from the Constitution.
