"... it's not an appropriate form of punishment at any age," the pediatrician said.."

Agreed. The kid had his FOOT in the aisle for God's sake. Kids these days just take it too far. I can't imagine what would have happened to me if I had MY foot in the aisle when I was a kid. A sore butt from Dad's belt every evening for a week, no dinner for a week, and grounded for a month - not even let out of my cage for potty breaks.

Remember this article? Here's what I had written:

Unionville is a very problematic community relative to other communities in that area. When someone reports on all of the problems that have been caused by the McManus family, the situation will become very clear. Also interesting is the $2500 fine for not reporting potential cases of abuse. An investigative reporter should look into this and see if perhaps Mr. McManus caused the injuries to his child with the intention of attempting to sue the district. Mr. McManus should be happy that his son only received a spanking. In the future, he'll probably see the wisdom of that statement.

Dr. Corbi Milligan should see his/her practice boycotted immediately.

Well, there's more to the story now. Here's a new one on the same fella (the parent making the accusations):

Click here for new problems of Mr. Manus.

Here's the story:

What goes around, comes around, or so it appears for a Bedford County man who's wanted in circuit court here. He's the same man who accused the vice principal of Community High School of child abuse when his son was paddled last year following a school bus incident. State and county investigations have cleared the vice principal. The latest development appears to arrive in reverse. Stalking, vandalism and trespassing charges have been set aside for a Rockvale man accused by a Unionville man who didn't show up in court to testify Thursday last week.

That's when the defendant wanted to testify and show that his accuser, Freddy Manus of Unionville, was named in bail bondsmen's ads among a list of "Rutherford County's Most Wanted." Yesterday, a check with the Rutherford County Jail revealed Manus was being held there. One year ago, Manus accused Michael Faulk of trespassing at his home on Virgil Crowell Road. Other charges followed and the cases were combined for a bench trial on Thursday last week when Judge Lee Russell presided. Because Manus didn't appear in court to press the case, the state declined to prosecute Faulk and Judge Russell issued a directive to have Manus brought to court to explain why he should not be held in contempt for failing to appear for the hearing. Faulk had armed his defense attorney, Assistant Public Defender Jack Dearing, with a news story about Manus and the advertisement from bail bondsmen who displayed a photo of Manus and listed him as wanted for parole violation. Manus was being held this morning in the Rutherford County Jail without bail on a charge alleging violation of probation, according to a county jailer in Murfreesboro. Manus is scheduled for a circuit court hearing on the charge on Aug. 15, the jailer said. Manus was booked into the Rutherford County Jail on Monday, four days after he was to have appeared in Bedford County Circuit Court to testify against Faulk. Faul left the courthouse last Thursday saying he was relieved.

"I've been through it almost a year and one month and it's been a big struggle for me," Faulk said. "I'm not a high falutin' guy. It's taken all my wages to get through this. They drag it out so long and think you'll take a guilty, but I'm not guilty." Faulk, 32, was accused by Manus of trespassing and stalking and seen looking in a window of the Manus family's house trailer, putting the Manus children in fear, according to warrants. It was Manus' son, Samuel, who received the county school system's permitted corporal punishment on Oct. 19, 2005, by Vice Principal Keith Williams. Tracy and Freddy Manus even produced a doctor's report to allege the paddling was child abuse.

Within days, Bedford County's court system declined to take steps toward prosecution, but a state Department of Children's Services investigation began and it wasn't until mid winter when the state said it could not find reason to conclude the paddling was child abuse. Nearly six months later, in mid June, The Daily News Journal published a story quoting a police detective as saying Manus convinced his 12-year-old daughter to falsify a report that she was raped by her mother's boyfriend so her parents could reunite. Manus was charged with filing a false report and the Murfreesboro newspaper quoted Rutherford County court records as showing Manus' criminal record includes charges of assaults, a DUI, drug offenses and driving on a revoked license.

As for Manus' prospective appearance in Bedford County Circuit Court, Judge Russell holds court tomorrow. His next regularly scheduled date is Aug. 17. Faulk says he didn't know he'd been accused by Manus until he was served with the warrants. He denies striking or tapping the Manus house trailer, or committing any of the offenses alleged by Manus. Asked if he thought Manus would appear to testify in the case, Faulk replied, "I didn't know that he was supposed to be here. I've been to court once a month for a year." "My sister has got a kid with Freddy," said Faulk, speculating the conflict stems from a child support issue.

"But as far as any drama or problems, we have never had none," he said. Faulk said he was surprised by all the events. "All of a sudden I was getting pointed out by the ... cops," he said. "I'll tell you, it's a real head dropper [physical reaction of regret] when you're arrested for something you didn't do."

The school system should sue the doctor until either the school OR the doctor runs out of money. Hold me back...
