There's nothing to be scared about. This case is thin, Libby will never lie and sell anyone else out and the weight of the truth here is already rolling over the libs. It may not seem that way looking at the SAP (Stone Age Press)coverage but they are spinning as hard as they can to help take down the Pres. They might think it's selling in flyover America but it ain't.

Having a trial where Russert, Novak, Cooper, Wilson and Plame can be called and cross-examined by the defense could be the best thing that's happened to conservatives in a long time. Since Dan Rather anyway.

I see two problems. One is the "rolling over" issue. I don't know Libby so I worry. :-)

My second fear is a little more subtle.

One of the ways the MSM works is by creating "templates" for events and then twisting new events to fit the template. That becomes their "angle" and a drumbeat for months, sometimes for years.

Bush now has two bad templates thrust at him. They are Vietnam and Watergate. Every speech, every word, every gesture will be interpreted by the MSM through those prisms.

The reason the template approach is such a powerful propaganda tool is that the human mind understands the world from infancy through templates. We create categories and fit new events into them, and then reshuffle (if we are rational :-) ) when appropriate.

The only president who survived grotesque MSM templates was Reagan. The Gipper had a strong unified base, a great speaking style, and only one template to fight. (Iran/Contra=Watergate)

Reagan also had a guy named Ollie North who played offense instead of defense.

The current Republican Congress is too worried about sending pork back home to care about the President. In the current budget the Republican Congress reinstated many programs the White House tried to cut (look at the HUD budget for some examples). The WH staff is now demoralized, afraid that they have whispered Plame's name in their sleep to their wives. They will be useless in carrying forward the WH agenda.

So I worry. :-)
