IRAN: REVOLUTIONARY GUARD BACKS PRESIDENT OVER ISRAEL

Tehran, 27 Oct. (AKI) - In a gesture of support for Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Islamic Revolutionary guards on Thursday joined his recent and controversial call for Israel to be "wiped off the map". "If this cancer (Israel) is not removed from the Islamic world, Muslims will sustain immense harm," said their spokesman, Seyyed Massoud Jazayeri. Ahmadinejad made his remarks at a Palestinian solidarity conference in Tehran on Wednesday, provoking angry condemnation from Western nations.

"This wound was opened more than half a century ago and has still not been healed, because in the Islamic world, some leaders and regimes, which have not been democratically elected by their own people, continue to rule, with the help of Western imperialism," Jazayeri continued.

"A world without Zionism, and the obliteration of Israel from the face of the earth, is not only the objective of Iran, but of the whole Muslim world," he added, pointing out that these goals had been underlined by the country's revolutionary leader, Ayatollah Khomeini, more than 20 years ago.

"At the time, many thought they were just propaganda slogans, but by reiterating them now, president Ahmadinejad has reminded us that they involve a strategy shared by most of the Islamic world," Jazayeri noted.

Iran's foreign minister, Manouchehr Mottaki has sent a circular to the country's diplomats - many of who have beeen summoned by the Western nations to provide explanation for Ahmadinejad's comments - to "go on the offensive".

"You should present yourselves to the authorities in the countries where you live, to strongly protest against the indifference shown by Western nations to the suffering of the Palestinian people and urge Europe's condemnation of Israel," the circular read.

Just for the record:

About 60% of the population of Iran is 30 yrs or younger.

The greater majority of that 60% is pro-Western.

Much of the Iranian Guard thugs don't speak Persian.

After 9/11, 100's of thousands of students held candlelight vigils at their campuses for the dead in the fallen towers.

They suffered beatings and arrests at the hands of these non-Persian speaking thugs.

The Mullahs have a tenuous hold right now.

The pro-Western youth need our help.

Whatever have we heard from the creator of modern Iran, Jimmy Carter.
He got thorough with dumping and toppling the Shah, followed by a hostage crises, followed by getting the next Iranian ruler Khomeini out of France into Iran, followed by Carter getting kiched out of office.
Silence from this holder of a Nobel.
The remnants of Jimmy's decision...go ask Israel how they feel.

Agreed. Iran teeters on the brink. They could fall with just the slightest nudge. Odds are even pretty good that whatever replaces the mullahs would be a much more reasonable pro-western democracy. Pro-modern, anyway.

Precisely; And it is the democratic reforms just beginning to take shape in Iraq that will be the impetus begind the fall of Iran. When the young of Iran see freedom - however flawed - it will fire them up like nothing before.

The war on Iras is, in my opinion, really a war against the government of Iran, they will fall because of Iraq.

There are those that were there when the Shah was disposed and they were happy.

Happiness eludes them these days.

The vast amount of Iranian consider themselves Persian, not Arabic.

They despise these non-Persians helping to keep the Mullahs in power.

Iran must be destroyed.
Im from Serbia and I saw "friendship" of Russians and Americans after WWII with "poor Germans that were terrorised by Hitler"

Man, USSR and USA built Germany (Bundeswehr and Volksarmee) millitary with nazi instructors and oficers that are responsible for WWII, and Germany and Austria rebuilt by ex-nazi ofitials that errediceted 50,000,000 people!

Just nuke them. and go with VX afterwards.

Yep.. I think Israel's completely and utterly justified now to vaporize Iran completely.

If Israel doesn't, it's a bit suicidal at this point. The islamics persians mean business.

There's a big difference between nuking the facility and all of Iran.

We didn't just rebuild Germany's military... we had to help them rebuild the entire country-- intentionally not making the mistake of WWI of letting them wallow in misery, deserved or otherwise.

But what threat has Germany or Austria posed to anyone since then?

If the middle east is broken down and rebuilt in the model of post-war europe... I for one would be pretty happy with that. Beats the heck outta what we got now.

Then you would not spare the innocent? I'm all for going after the facility, however, all of Iran would mean genocide.

the objective of Iran

Then after Iran accomplishes this, Iran will also disappear since it will have done what it was to do. Same for Islam.

I was disappointed to hear about the non-funding of the bunker-bustin nuke program. A tactically realistic program unlike the tactical nuclear shells shot from howitzers back in the 50's.

You might be right -- But when I traveled to Iran repeatedly on business before the mullahs took over, Islam was not in sight. The women went around in western style clothes and the whole Persian society was mildly western -- schools, cultural events, dress, food, women drove around in cars, but then came the Islamic darkness, courtesy of Carter.

So maybe they were just trying to escape the 6th century and didn't make it.

In contrast to the other Arab countries, like Saudi Arabia, where Islam was the standard of the society.
