Miers was killed off by the far right.
Don't blame her withdrawal on the Democrats.
______________________________________________________
Not really, the right did not like Miers, but had the Dims all started lining up saying they would vote for her, she never would have been withdrawn. So again I say, if the Dims had wanted someone like Miers, they should have gotten on board. They did not and they may not like what they get as her replacement.
That is the risk the Dims took by not immediately coming out in favor of her when the right started objecting to her. Maybe this withdrawal will damage the president enough as they hope to make it worthwhile to them. But only time will tell.

(Miers has withdrawn. You can stop spinning for her. It's ok to admit she was a bad pick.)

Not really, the right did not like Miers, but had the Dims all started lining up saying they would vote for her, she never would have been withdrawn.Well, I disagree. If every Democrat had supported Miers, she still would have been withdrawn because of the railing on the right.
She got no support from any GOP Senator, and the only voices in the press were the screamers, like David Frum.

Are you saying that Bush is not a conservative?
To: Trust but Verify
Sometimes, but I am on target with accurate posts nearly all the time.
My point I made is not arguable even if the fan club members of George disagree. It is a very bitter pill to swallow, but it is not refutable--George Bush is NOT a conservative, and this is why he failed to nomnate a TRUE CONSERVATIVE by choosing Roberts and Miers.

She got no support from any GOP Senator Clearly those right-wing ultra-conservatives in the Senate doomed her nomination.

Bush is a Republican (like Chafee, Snowe, Hagel, DeWine, Collins, and other RINOs), but Bush is NOT a conservative.
Being a Republican is not a free ticket into the conservative society--Bush has proven that.

She got support from people like DeWine, L. Graham, both the Tx Senators. Had a majority of Dims come out in support of her she would have been confirmed with ease. Heck has there ever been a time when Spector was not with the majority of Dims?
