Halle - freakin - lujia!!!!

My heart gained back half its spark upon hearing of Miers' withdrawel.

The other half will (hopefully) return when President Bush puts up a solid, take-no-prisoners conservative originalist nominee.

I am already trying to erase this potentially huge GWB initiated mistake from my political memory.

IT's TIME TO GO ON THE OFFENSIVE, MR. PRESIDENT!!!

Not some tepid on your heels selection, either.

Hopefully he knows that Democratic prosecutors are going to keep indicting conservatives until they get on the offensive.

I suspect he will do the opposite, and name a nice moderate pro choice king in a black dress. Bush just got attacked and stabbed by his "allies", so I doubt that he will put anyone up that will anger either side.

It's looking to me like the Miers nomination was another of Bush's famous political screw jobs against the dems. I fully expect that he'll nominate a well known hardcore conservative and will bring this conflict to open war before the senate. Which he has position himself politically to win. Its hard for the dems to oppose two nominations in a row, especially if the second one is Janice Rogers Brown, someone the dems already voted for once.

ABSOLUTELY! I'm reminded of Joshua Chamberlain at the Battle of Gettysburg. Out of ammunition, battered and tired. When his troops were at their lowest point, he ordered them to fix bayonets and charge. They swept the Confederate troops from the field and held their critical part of the Union flank.

Even to a man raised in the south, this is still an inspiring and instructive story. This is the time to take back the initiative and not just get someone on the court, but defeat and demoralize the enemy!
