Arlen Spector isn't the end all, be all.

Specter has to bring the nominee to the committee.

Bush will not appoint anybody who Specter does not support.

I seem to recall Spector saying that he would 'not block a nominee who opposes abortion?.. I know, I know, how much are Spector's vows worth.
