Stealth nominees have never turned out to be a pleasant surprise for conservatives. Never. Not ever. ...
What about Clarence Thomas?

I don't think it's accurate to lump her with Moore in particular. Yeah, you're right. She probably never ate a few bacon cheeseburgers at one sitting in her life.
They'd never be confused in a line-up.

"The phrase "Rove is the president's brain" is a leftist mantra and Ann is sounding more and more like a Dumbocrat every day." First of all, what the hell does the former have to do with the latter? Ann didn't say "Rove is the president's brain." As far as Ann sounding "like a Dumbocrat", I don't hear a lot of Dumbocrats complaining that Mier isn't an originalist. So basically, your post is garbage.

they all sold their soul for 15 minutes of weekly face time. Miers may not have been perfect, but I hope that her destruction will cause a few Republicans to rethink their support of the hateful. I canceled my NRO subscription and I no longer will read Will or Coulter.

Nixon appointed Blackmun, signed the bill authorizing OSHA, and instituted price controls. I hope that's what she meant by the comparison. Bush is simply too willing to compromise with the left, just as was Nixon.Nixon also started the Federal Affirmative Action Policy and started the Environmental Protection Agency.

Dane, surely you don't think Kristol, Ann, Bork and Rush are criticizing Miers in order to ingratiate themselves with liberals, do you?
And haven't the latest Miers revelations, such as her call for "self-determination" on abortion, given you some qualms about her?
To: goldstategop
"I am a conservative first..." I'm a conservative, but can't register as a Republican any more. Not since they elected Dole to run against Clinton. And certainly not until they learn how to live up to their campaign promises about spending, border control, etc. Unfortunately, there aren't very many true conservatives out there to vote for and I usually have to vote for a Republican as a vote against a demonrat to keep the 'rat out of office.

LOL. I agree. I don't know where Ann is headed, but IMHO she's going to need longer arms to scratch her little blond head.
No longer on my "Favorites" list!

There are a bunch of girlie men on this thread...or maybe they're just girls, whining that Ann is "just a meany, and is insensitive." What a bunch of Wusses. I guarantee that if she said "when Bush was boozing it up" right in front of W, he would laugh and wholeheartedly agree that that was what he was doing a few decades ago. Bunch of babies who are virtually traumatized by words.

Ann observed: "he's made one mistake - Harriet Miers. He just has to eliminate that mistake and everything will be fine." OK, everything's fine.

I've loved watching the "true conservatives" rushing to the side of McCain's man Bill Kristol. Their new hero LOL.

I remember a group of local freepers went to see Ann speak before the 2000 election. She told them they HAD to vote for Bush no matter what. Why? Because of the judges. This was her reason for supporting him right from the start.

I saw the interview and was non-impressed. I've seen (and read) Ann in better form. She mumbled and um-ed a lot and didn't have many solid answers.
Just an observation.

I tend to agree. Ann is probably at her best in a fight, and was put off guard by Matt's un-confrontational approach.
