There's also that famous phrase "individual women's" in the same sentence.

I've never had a fetish about grammar, but I have to say that Miers is a really atrocious stylist. Trying to figure out exactly what she is saying is like wading through mud.

"Trying to figure out exactly what she is saying is like wading through mud."

I bet she feels the same way. When I see the same phrase doubled in sentences (whether it is Harriet Miers or the kid next door), I immediately suspect systemic sloppy thinking. One is tempted to see an image of "The girl who was supposed to be bright". Harriet hides the fact that she isn't, by mirror imaging her sentences so they look complex but in fact contain piffle. Sorry to be mean, but that's what I see.

It ain't mud you're trying to wade through.

A cunning linguist she isn't.

Is it possible that when all is said and done, Miers will turn out to be nothing more than a creation of affirmative action? I'm not talking about the nomination. I'm talking about the entire history of her career advancement. This is probably the first time anyone has dared to point any one of her shortcomings for fear of being called sexist.
