I am getting more than a little pissed off about how some are trashing this women without disregard for truth.. I expect this from liberals not my own side..

I was prepared to jump all over her on the grounds that she was squishy on abortion and other things, however I have read this speech three times, and I cannot for the life of me find much that I can disagree with as a Conservative..

Clearly she mocks the elected governance for abdicating their responsibility to the courts, as we all should and she says it clearly. She mocks the way that the abortion protesters are now characterized as terrorist.. Who can argue about that?

So now protesters performing their constitutional free speech rights are defined as "terrorists." And people on the other side are called "besieged." No mention at all of who is really being terrorized, unborn children deprived of the right to live.

Your thread title is an insult to people that would like to read the speech and form an opinion based on what she said. Not some snippet to incite a riot against Miers.

In the beginning I supported her nomination but the more I learned about her the less I supported her.

At this point in time, I no longer support her.

Is there absolutely no recent speech (last 3 years) given by Miers with other clues that can be found?

It is possible that since this speech was given ('93), she's actually seen pictures of aborted babies and had a change of heart.

Pro-life groups get responses everyday from people who turned against abortion once they saw pictures or even found out more truth (the heart starts beating 21 days after conception; the backbone and muscles are already forming by the 28th day after conception).

If Miers has not changed and is still (obviously by this speech) pro-choice --and Pres. Bush knows this, then he has lost my respect and support.
