Authorities raised Florida's death toll from Hurricane Wilma (search) from five to 10 Wednesday and urged the storm's survivors to have patience as they endured long waits for food, water and other necessities.

What is wrong with these people? A couple days after a hurricane, in an area where it happens all the time, and people are protesting that they are tired of waiting!
Waiting for WHAT? McDonalds? Is this the fast food mentality kicking in or are all these waiting people so dependent on government hand outs that they are totally incapable of self reliance.
What happened to insurance or helping your neighbor or for heavens sake - taking care of yourself and your family.
I think the government at all levels has started this problem with the 2000 dollar gift cards and now everyone expects that the US Taxpayer will cover every casualty that comes along.
I insure my property, take steps to protect it, and ensure I have food and water no matter what - and I am frankly sick of hearing these cry babies whine!
Anyone else feel this way?
You are absolutely NOT alone in feeling that way.
I'm sure the democrats ran a phone bank before the hurricane telling their constituents in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach to be sure to complain about the lack of food and water as soon as they could get to a reporter.
Just like they called them to tell them to complain about the ballots in the 2000 election.
OK, that's just a speculation.
Seems to be lots of trollish behavior on the board lately.
If only everyone could be like you, things would be...swell.
It seems a large population in this country want their gov't to do everything including wiping their butts!
"Wilma Death Toll in Florida Raised to 10"
Didn't the governor predict 10,000? Oh, wait, wrong hurricane.
As an important matter of interest, WFTV just said you need to have federal flood coverage to cover against floods. I am sure the average person believes insurance is insurance, but the average insurance policy does not cover the damage from floods. As for these people who are whining, I am sick of hearing it myself. Let them have an attitude of helping one another until more help comes. Last year, my neighbors were just thankful to be alive and did not mind cooking out on the porch and we who had power helped them with ice and brought meals.
We had an ice storm a few years ago. Had no power for 10 days and the city or anyother government enity offered any help. we made it just fine.
LOL
My mom lives in Naples- all her trees blew down, minor damage to her house, no power. Tonight, she turned down dinner with friends and a cocktail party to stay home with a flashlight and canned food, as she has been doing. No one even thinks about "federal aid". Of course, she'll be screaming for the Feds when her Jim Beam runs out and her golf course doesn't open. She's 86 and lived there since 1975.
