President Reagan's legacy lives on in Congressman Pence.

I cannot believe there is a congressman who actually thinks there is too much government!! Send this guy to my district and I'll vote for him everytime. Too bad the bosses in the house don't seem to like him, but I'll bet his constituants love him. They are the lucky ones!

"If Republicans keep answering every problem with an expansion of big government, eventually people are going to get the professionals, [the Democrats] the guys who do big government."

I like Allen, but he is reneging on a promise not to sign onto a new expansion of a 'hate crime' bill. To me, hate crime equates to thought crime and we should never go down that road no matter how much pressure there is or how good it feels.

When Allen does go down that road, I have to question his judgment and even his core values. I've not written him off, but I'm watching him more.

It is the small matters that can be quite revealing and you have to watch what they say, but more importantly be sure that what they say matches what they do.

"And the most recognizable potential candidates for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, such as Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, are hardly standard-bearers for the right.

"While they're impressive people and they're conservative on some issues, none of them is really an obvious leader of the conservative movement," said Bill Kristol, editor of the conservative Weekly Standard.

"The party faithful and the conservative grass roots have been searching for the next Ronald Reagan. And Mike Pence has been mentioned as someone who could fill the Gipper's shoes, even though he's still young and a relative political newcomer," said Stephen Moore, founder of the Free Enterprise Fund."

I just have a few small quibbles.....

"...he believes is drifting "into the dangerous waters of big-government Republicanism..." Wrong. We're already there, desparately treading water, hoping and praying not to drown in debt.

"Some Republican leaders believe Pence fails to appreciate the accommodations that must be made to hold together a fractious party with a slender majority in Congress..." Wrong, dead wrong. The so-called Republican leaders fail to apprehend the reason for the cracks: The Republican party has no core, no compass, no unifying vision.

I like what I've read. This guy appears to be our best hope. THANKS for the ping!

There are more people out there like Mike Pence. We need to recruit them to run for office and help them get elected.

I was beginning to wonder if they interviewed Howlin to get that comment! LOL
(Some Republican leaders believe Pence fails to appreciate the accommodations that must be made to hold together a fractious party with a slender majority in Congress..." )

Party over principle! Republican first, conservative second. ;)

Sounds to me the Republicans think they can "buy" votes like the Democrats did. What say America?
