Again, you think the government has an exclusive lock on information such that ordinary citizerns do not have access to TV or radio to asses the severity of the storm for themselves ? That citizens should take all direction from the government and not think or prepare for themselves ?

Who gives a rat's patootie what the state has stockpiled around ? Do it yourself, and you won't be complaining about standing in line for hours ! It seems to me that taxpayers should be outraged at the state helping those who could clearly do for themselves, but are too lazy or stupid to do so.

It's called self-reliance, and it seems you've forgotten that this is a commodity available to any individual with half a brain.

My parents live in Vero Beach and tracked the progress and severity of the hurricane for days, laying in supplies, getting gas for the generator and cars, and charging up the cell phone, and helping friends and neighbors to do the same. They lost power for a day and weren't standing in line for anything because they'd prepared. If a few 70-something year olds can do it, wouldn't you expect a 47 year old to be able to figure it out ?

Whatever. The state said "don't worry, we're prepared" and now you're attacking people for believing them. As far as I'm concerned you're just rationalizing your bitch session. You want to kick people when they're down, go ahead and do it, don't get sanctimonious about it.
