One would-be robber is in the hospital and another in jail after an attempted hold-up Monday night.
Reno police say a 38-year-old man was washing his car at a car wash on Booth Street around 11:00 PM when he was approached by two men, one carrying a small, wooden bat.
Authorities say the two suspects attempted to rob the man, but the victim was armed with a hand gun and shot one of the robbers.
Police were able to locate the suspects at the hospital after one of the men showed up to be treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
The un-injured suspect, 18-year-old Luis Alfredo Aguirre, was charged with attempted armed robbery.
Police say the victim has a current concealed weapon permit.
Both the perps will attmept to sue their victim.
Remember, shoot to kill. Leave no survivors. Darwin will smile upon you ;)
I can see the story now. The young lads were just looking for the nearest lighted baseball field and this crazy man with a gun overreacted.
Well, you can bet the anti-gun zealots will claim these two perps for their list of "gun-related violence".
I wonder if the perps were illegal aliens?
The poster above is correct - leave no survivors to sue you next time. Otherwise, nice work there citizen.
I wouldn't be on Booth Street at 11PM without a gun, either.
Just carjacking the freshly cleaned cars Americans are too lazy to take.
It is indeed too bad that he didn't shoot 'em both, with much improved shot placement. It would have been a great service to the community.
Practice, Practice, Practice.
It was night, and the perps were probably moving targets, so I'll cut the guy some slack on the shot placement.
What the hell is someone doing washing a car at 11:00 at night? Sounds like a Charles Bronson Death Wish midnight walk in Central Park????????????
Could have been a Chales Bronson type with a Death Wish, ya never know.
Man you stole my thunder. LOL
But car washes are usually pretty well lit, and if they were close enough to be a threat, they were close enough to hit. But you are probably correct in not insisting on dead center of mass hits. Still some hits on both perps would have been expected. But given that he stopped the threat, he was right to not have continued shooting.
For once the news gets it right. The "victim" was the man who was robbed, not the criminal who was shot.
Oh yea if you want to move to Nevada I recommend Vegas they need more people. We in Reno are just fine.
What do you want to bet that they are illegals? It's a sad day in America when you can't go wash your car without having these kinds of things happen. I wish he would have killed both of them. It would have saved the taxpayers lots of money, and they wouldn't be running free later to harm other people!!
Thanks for the ping.
And I wonder how the story would read if the victim didn't have a CW permit? Something like, "the victim is being charged with a felony for unlawful use of a firearm. Therefore lawyers have contacted the perpetrators and they will be filing a lawsuit against the victim. The victim will be lucky to escape with the clothes on his back".
