Nine seasons of crude comedy
Communist News Network (CNN) ^ | 25 October 2005 | APee

NEW YORK (AP) -- With the political relevance of "The Daily Show" and the huge DVD sales (and subsequent hiatus) of "Chappelle's Show," it's easy to forget about that other Comedy Central show, "South Park."

But Matt Stone and Trey Parker's crude cartoon began its ninth season last Wednesday -- and it remains the network's most-watched program. It is also, perhaps, still the most manic thing on TV, with entire episodes created just days before they air.

With a ripped-from-the-headlines approach, it's the "Law & Order" of comedy. The first episode, "Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow," tackles Hurricane Katrina -- by way of the neighboring town flooding.

Parker, who turned 36 last week, and Stone, 34, last month inked a deal for three more seasons and "South Park" has begun appearing in syndication in some markets -- both of which assure the world of Cartman, Stan, Kyle and the rest will continue to expand.

He's too stuck on being 'Latino'

That's what he is and where he's coming from. It has GOT to be some part of his schtick.

At least he's not George Lopez, every other word out of his mouth is "Mexican". He's totally hung up on his race and not funny.

Get one of Carlos' CDs and listen.

To add to this discussion and plug Arrested Development which I also love:

On AD Henry Winkler was a recurring character as inept lawyer Barry Zuckerkorn. In one episode he was at the dock and there was a shark laying on it and Winkler does indeed jump the shark. Thankfully, AD hasn't yet and is just as funny as ever. I advise anyone who doesn't watch it already to tune in Nov. 7th when it returns (I hate Baseball) with two episodes. Both of which guest star Charlize Theron.

LAME, LAME, LAME...
Anybody that gives themselves the nickname of the Punisheeer (Cmon White people...F****ck) needs to be kicked in the head.

Also, Carlos Menstealya wouldnt know an original bit if it bit him in the ass.

I loved it when Rogan called him out on the Opie&Anthony show (XM202).

Ron White is pure evil when it comes to comedy. The whiskey and the cigarette have to send the PC crowd into hives, and then he starts talking, and it just gets funnier. Dennis Leary is the only guy who can match him for plain, mean comedy. Naturally, I love him! ;^)

"I worked in a pickle factory once. I got fired for putting my finger in the pickle slicer..........she got fired, too" Blue Collar movie. His delivery was perfect.

"Blue Collar" was invented with the intention of doing 'clean' comedy, i.e. no nasty language or whatnot. Ron White threw that completely overboard, but managed to always stay a millimeter within the rules.

Larry the Cable Guy stepped on the line a couple of times.

Larry is the one member of the trio that's still funny. For Jeff and Bill, it's all about dollars and cents. I think the reason Ron White never became a member besides the standup shows was that if you took the leash off, he'd get them banned from TV.

My baby-boomer Mom gets her "News" from the Daily Show...

I think Daily Show is really underestimated on this thread.

It has a lot of younger viewers, especially in the key advertising demographic (20-35 year-old males). And it is surprising how many of them consider it to actually be their regular news show. Not the networks or cable news or newspapers. Just the Daily Show and then they might scan Headline News if something is interesting to them.

Sad but true... Funny stuff + news + laziness = good propaganda. Weekend update on SNL invented it years ago.

What kind of job do you have where people watch TV all day?

I sell TVs?

No, actually, there is a cafeteria/lounge w/tv's. The big one is on the YES chanell and the little one is usually showing springer during lunch. I think some of foodservice workers watch it.

In the eves, one of the market monitors gets flipped around.

If you don't like sex or gay jokes, South Park probably isn't for you....

I've heard that SP does a great job of lampooning the left. I don't like pro gay propaganda disguised as mainstream "entertainment." And no, I stopped finding sex jokes funny in, what, 6th grade? Just me.

I could probably overlook some of the other stuff in favor of a little balance on that score.

Foxworthy and Engvall aren't funny? They're only in it for the money? Man, you must know them better than I do. I find them the cleverest of the four, no offense to Tater Salad or Bumper Sticker.

I can't believe nobody's diverted this thread toward Matt and Trey's masterpiece Team America, World Police yet.

AMERICA! F&#K YEAH!
