Fleming's Bond was an expert with a pistol, pure and simple. If this new guy hates guns so much, he cannot in good conscience play this role. Ironically, I've read that when Ian Fleming underwent a course for undercover operatives in Canada during WWII, he failed an assignment to kill an "enemy agent" in cold blood.
