I think the source of this article, and the media have agendas on the drug issue. That said, given what I have read on the subject of meth specifically, I think it's one of the more evil substances concocted by man.

It may seem like hype to those who don't have regular contact with these people.
I happen to live in the area that Newsweek described in its article. The article was accurate.
The local police cannot keep up with this problem.
Children are most definitely being neglected and exposed to dangerous toxic chemicals.
People are turning into zombies - I've seen it.
There is a meth lab less than 1/2 a mile from my home. I don't know why the police can't bust this guy - but he's been in business for a long time.
This is a poor area. These people can't afford to buy coke or heroin - but they're making tons of this stuff.
When they're high they often go 2 to 3 days without sleeping or eating.
I hope this is a passing fad - but I'm afraid it's not.
