he's a jerk. the dollar is far too strong, I don't want to see the entire US agriculture industry decimated so we all have to eat crap imported 3rd world food.
"he's a jerk"
Maybe, maybe not. I'd rather argue facts and theories and not get into a mud-slinging exercise
"the dollar is far too strong"
I agree
"I don't want to see the entire US agriculture industry decimated so we all have to eat crap imported 3rd world food."
You have a point there. However, I suspect we won't have to do that - it will be family farms that lose, and corporate farms in the US (and Australia) that win. And I will win since my taxes won't go to subsidize anyone.
Not all the food industry is provided with farm subsidies, Pork for an example isn't covered I think. We are exporting more pork than ever before.
On the other hand our world share of soybeans has dropped but I think it is subsidied.
Great...Love Canel Food from the 3rd world!
From the The Economist:
Banning DDT is a great idea whose time has not yet come.
Although many countries already have such a ban in theory, poor enforcement means that it often leaks into agriculture. UNEP reckons that as much as half of the DDT used today is for purposes other than fighting malaria inside homes.
