Are we to understand that there are organized South Asian street gangs in in Birmingham and that these gangs have initiated violence against Caribbean gangs?
Are these South Asian street gangs predominantly Muslim or Hindu?
Was the "mixed race" individual in question Asian/African or Asian/European or European/African?
Yes, there are organised gangs on the streets of the city. The (South) Asians are almost exclusively of Indian sub-continent heritage - e.g. Pakistani/Bangladeshi/Indian. They are referred to, collectively, as Asian here and do not include those communities to which, in the USA, you would apply the definition "Asian" - such as Chinese, Vietnamese, etc.
Similarly, there are gangs of black Caribbean descent.
Both factions fight amongst themselves more often than not and, whilst, at gang level, there is no love lost between the two groupings, that doesn't reflect a more widespread Asian versus Caribbean antipathy.
Culturally, the Asian gang make-up is a mixture of Muslim, Hindu and others but there's no religious agenda at street level. It's all about drugs, guns and turf. As you might expect the media is in its usual feeding frenzy over this incident and the PC crowd are desparately casting around for a white to fit in the frame somewhere - otherwise it can't really be a racist issue, can it?
And, the young guy who was shot was of mixed Caribbean/White parentage.
The PC apparatchiks in the British media are deliberately blurring the issue. It's basically a conflict between Caribeans(some of whom are mixed race) and Pakistani and other TROP adherents.
