Soooo, Tenet was the source. Tenet telling Cheney would be no crime. Cheney telling Libby would be no crime.

You're rather conveniently leaving out the last link in the chain. Which is that Libby telling reporters might indeed be a crime. Libby lying to the grand jury by saying he didn't tell reporters might indeed be a crime as well. The mantra on FreeRepublic for weeks has been that Libby heard about Plame from reporters. This defense no longer appears operative. The White House will be extremely lucky if it gets out of this with only Libby indicted. Rove could end up being named as an unindicted co-conspirator on obstruction of justice if the prosecutor determines Rove also lied, but that a conviction on the charge would be difficult to get.

Might be a crime, but Libby telling anyone about Plame is not in evidence.

How does Fitzgerald prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Cheney, Libby or Rove had either actual knowledge of Plame's status as a covert agent at the time of the communications, or that any of them reasonably believed she was covert, as opposed to simply working for the CIA?

The fact missing from all these media reports is the missing element in proving that any indictable offense occurred.

Hate to burst your bubble, but if Dick Cheney called me ten minutes ago withthe information, then you called me with the information as a reporter, and I did not offer it to you but you offered it to me, you would have offered the information to me "first" in our relationship.

I can still have learned about Plame from you, and not the other way around.

This is so much gobbledygook. Wait til the massive news is revealed. The only reason this is a story is the hatred of the media for Bush.

If Libby told reporters about it and he knew she was covert and he did it to damage her and Wilson a crime has been committed.

His source of information is irrelevant, unless he was directed to call the media and conspire to damage Plame. But of course, the NYT didn't say that - they are claiming nonsensical deductions from incomplete data. Cheney telling him is meaningless.

Amazingly, you appear to have convicted the White House on the basis of an unattributed story in the NYT.
