CINCINNATI - Paul Hackett, the Democratic veteran of the Iraq war who narrowly lost a special election in a heavily Republican congressional district in August, made his official entry into a U.S. Senate race Monday.

He faces a tough Democratic primary with Rep. Sherrod Brown (news, bio, voting record) in the race for the nomination to challenge second-term Republican incumbent Sen. Mike DeWine (news, bio, voting record) next year.

Running against DeWine. Hard to choose in this race vs a RINO.

Once you learn more about Hacket, you won't be so conflicted anymore.

Senator Hackett seems like a likely result. It'd be a helluva shame if a guy who didn't get mud in his boots-- a lawyer who basically hamstrung the troops by telling them when to shoot or not-- gets to fake like he's GI Joe and gets in the Senate and becomes an inst-POTUS contender. He's good loooking, nice family, and he has inflated his Iraq hitch into something it wasn;t-- he's acting like he's some hardened non-com who led troops in pitched battles against the Sunnis in falluja... it's disgraceful, but unchallenged at this point.

You are correct, I was exaggerating a bit. I know of Hackett's two-faced election campaining.

The guy is not such an unknown this time. When he ran last time, from his campaign you would have thought he was a Republican. That won't work this time.

The Liberal MSM has been gleefully trumpeting this all day on the news. "We've got a real Iraq War veteran running for us!!!" Yippeee!!!

Obviously, the boneheads in the Liberal MSM have already forgotten about their boi, Hanoi Johnny. As a 22 year military veteran myself, the military service of the candidate is one of THE LAST THINGS I consider when voting for someone. Why? BECAUSE of people like Hanoi Johnny, Algore and Weasely Clark. Only a moron would vote for someone just because that candidate is a veteran.

"...the Democratic veteran of the Iraq war..."

And by veteran of the Iraq war, we mean he's a got years of experience at the peace marches.
