The reason? There is such a glut of job seekers that the companies reject any and all candidates that the recruiter sends them, in hopes that someone just a little more "perfect" will come along next week.
I've been looking for work in the area for four months and still haven't found anything, even though I have great work experience and a solid resume.

Hey folks, get a load of the above statement from a techie with a solid resume, in a state that is supposed to have below average unemployment rate.
When the Labor Dept. tells us that unemployment ( pre-Katrina ) has shrunk to a low of 4.9%, I think they are talking about the abundance of lower paying jobs, not high paying jobs ( or whats left of them ) like IT.

that's part of the 3 card monty game played by US tech managers. they will quibble and b*tch and moan over minute qualifications on a resume for a person they have to pay full salary for, and then instantly hire an H1B with little (or fradulent) experience because they work cheap. that's part of the problem.
So many Americans have totally lost the concept and pride of being a loyal American.
