RAMALLAH, West Bank (AFP) - Palestinian prime minister Ahmed Qorei warned Israel that its new restrictions on West Bank roads were undermining the peace process after he himself was stuck at a checkpoint.
An angry Qorei told reporters that he had been stoppped for 45 minutes at a mobile checkpoint to the east of the Palestinian Authority's capital in Ramallah as he was driving from his offices in Abu Dis on the outskirts of east Jerusalem.
"The Israelis say the road closures are to defend themselves but it is really just a procedure to make our lives difficult, especially during Ramadan," Qorei said Sunday.
"This does not help the peace process but only makes difficulties for all Palestinians -- not just me," he added.
Israel has closed off a number of West Bank highways to private Palestinian vehicles and reinstated a series of checkpoints and roadblocks in the aftermath of a shooting attack last Sunday in which three Jewish settlers were killed.
An Israeli military source confirmed Qorei had been stopped by soldiers who checked his identity, saying that he had failed to coordinate his travel plans as she said was customary with VIPs and diplomats.
"His passage into Ramallah was not coordinated in advance. A security force took his identity card, just to verify his identity, before allowing him to cross. This did cause a delay of no more than 25 minutes," the source told AFP.
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
"just a procedure to make our lives difficult, especially during Ramadan,"
If the Palestinians weren't attempting to blow people up, using baby carriages, pregnant women, mentally challenged children, ambulances, etc. etc., maybe there wouldn't have to be road blocks.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
"That's right--they say it's for security, but we all know what a joke that is. I mean, come on! What are they afraid of? It isn't like Palestinians are hiding sticks of dynamite under their jackets and blowing up in discotheques," Qorei deadpanned.
""The Israelis say the road closures are to defend themselves but it is really just a procedure to make our lives difficult, especially during Ramadan," Qorei said Sunday. "
Yeh, right. The Israelis have nothing better to do than to think up things to annoy you! The defense of their nation and people isn't really important. (Sarc)
Next time they should give him a full-cavity search.
There... Fixed it.

DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!?
Funny thing about road blocks, Jews have to drive through them too. There is not a line for Jews and a line for Arabs. Jews just do not whine about it because they know that it may just save their lives. But then Jews do not whine much about anything, not even the daily attempts to murder them by Arabs.
The Arabs know it just as an inconvienence, becasue the road block does not save Arab lives as Jews do not smuggle bombs to Arab areas.
So the Arabs whine about the inconvienence's of life on their way to shop in Jewish stores and go to Jewish hospitals.
Americans give hundreds of Millions of dollars to Arabs every year, and the Arabs whine it is not enough and burn American flags and kill Americans. Some idiots in high places believe the Arabs and try to give them more...
Arabs whine like flys buzz, its the nature of the beast.
Arabs bite the hand that feeds them, and kiss the boot that kicks them.
Take him to his destination via helicopter, and "drop him off" there..
It's easier to cross many borders then for Jews- and everyone else- to enter the parking at the Malcha (Jerusalem) Mall.
That these animals rightly believe that they can use checkpoints as propaganda against Israel shows the depravity of the media's hatred for Israel.
"We slaughtered your children and now you frown at us so you are a jerk."
Yep, Islam is a cancer, radiation is the cure, and "peace" deals are rapidly bringing the two together.
Don't forget to shine a flashlight through his ears.
