Treating the assassination as simply a law-enforcement matter, and demanding an international trial of Syrian figures, would hardly bring about reforms needed in that country toward democracy and an end to support of terrorists. The UN will send some sort of mild note.

"The US is militarily exhausted by Iraq and Afghanistan, and can hardly pick a fight with Syria's president, Bashar Assad. Nor can it politically afford right now to further erode America's international reputation by operating outside the UN Security Council."
Huh?

If it wasn't for Condi we would be in Syria now. That's where the Marines want to be.

The US IS NOT "militarily exhausted by Iraq and Afghanistan". That's an Islamist/Dermocrat wet fream, and neither Islamists nor Democrats know squat about US military strength beyond what they glom from their puppies at CNN/ABC/NBC/CBS/PMSNBC.

The UN is just a platform for posturing. Otherwise, it is USELESS beyond any measure.

Utter rubbish. Syria's "Army" is nothing but a bunch of rag-tag, undisciplined, un-trained goat farmers with rifles. We could run through Syria like same day dry cleaning. In by 9, out by 5.

Huh is right. We're not "militarily exhausted." If the regular army and marines can't handle Syria, then send in the Texas Rangers and some Alabama Boy Scouts.

"The UN will send some sort of mild note."SHAME ON YOU! The UN will send a resolution and it will be strongly worded!! THAT'LL learn Assad and his thugs a thingertwo! Didn't you know that the UN discovered that worldwide terrorism has dropped since the UN started sending troops in??

How about forcing "stone age without a dictator" on Syria...?

The US is militarily exhausted by Iraq and Afghanistan, and can hardly pick a fight with Syria's president, Bashar Assad. This comes from the same media that tried to say that states' response to disasters is hampered due to the use of the National Guard in Iraq.
Our military is brilliant and with the experience gained in Iraq, could blow Syria away with minimal effort.

Have Israel do it. Sooner or later she has to come out of the corner. The whiff of a war is in the air- one with Iran we are destined to have, as Rush has said.

Yea. Thats what I was thinking too. We're just skimming the surface of our war potential. We are in country, logistics are in place. We could take Syria out in one strike. Not to mention Israel, who is chomping at the bit.
To: bnelson44
The way out of Iraq is through Syria and Iran. This is much easier than providing targets for insurgents and no one can accuse us of retreating! LOL

Odd that the CSM completely ignores the evidence, which was already well known yesterday, that the UN blamed members at the very top of Syria's government for the assassination, before Kofi laundered the report.
Typical of the CSM and the MSM in general: If the facts don't suit your agenda, just ignore them.

"How about forcing "stone age without a dictator" on Syria...?"This is a rerun of the "wisdon" the Islamist/Leftist front gave us for "containing" Saddam rather than toppling him. Same argument, different dictator.
