On Wednesday, 16 September 2005, Joanne Hanley, the National Park Service superintendent for the memorial, said key changes would be made to a proposed 9/11Pennsylvania memorial
"to eliminate any association with a crescent -- a symbol of Islam."
Joanne Hanley said that they have been receiving a number of growing complaints about the design, specifically that the design evokes Islam, the religion of the terrorists who hijacked the plane.
It appears that Joanne Hanlke, a government official, lied?
Let these terrorist sympathizers know that we’re still watching and that we will not accept any “honors” to terrorists. It is not even remotely acceptable.

I followed the link to the memorial through three different sites. They do not have an email address on their sites to contact. Just to donate.
