There should be cameras in all locations to document the prisoners' behavior.

When any prisoner clearly assaults an MP performing his duties lawfully, we should simply convene a hasty military tribunal and execute them.

This nonsense would quiet down quickly.

The Army (based on their field manual) says no....

Every U.S. flight crew member and special operator is required to pass a "special course" in counter interrogation, this includes food and sleep deprivation, exposure to the elements and plenty of personal time in a small box with interesting music playing 24/7. Your arguments are well reasoned, however, why should Americans have to undergo "torture", at the hands of fellow Americans, yet these third world terrorists are immune from exactly the same procedures?

I say we double the pay of the guards at the Rykers (sp) Island Isolation lockup and send them down there.

Just have a few military supervisors.

Let the new guards handle the unruly prisoners in their own special way :-).

I am so glad I went to bed and didn't hang here last night.

Why would we go back on those obligations

As you say, we already have the "obligation" so, why do we need more nonsense laws, bills and amendments on the books.

Congress needs to quit jerking around and do some REAL work and quit pussy footing around wasting my money.

TAKE NO PRISONERS - put an end to all this crap.

The obligations we have are "enforced" by the UN. The new law would allow the US to prosecute people for torture.

But we do. I've done it......I lived. Panties on my head would be the last of my worries FRiend. This isn't stuff for the courts, this is war. Hopefully, someday the rest of America will figure it out......

I don't know why it would have been deleted.

I answered you that I never said this was a matter for the courts. That is how the Clinton administration wasted the chance to nip this in the bud.

I support the WOT. I support the war in Iraq. I support keeping Gitmo open. But no one has yet told me WHY we should torture prisoners only that we should. The intel people all say (at least publicly) that there is no need for torture.

I am willing to be convinced but no one has given me so much as a bad reason much less a good one.
