LOL. Yeah, if while "behind", you mean "made statements that the anti-intellectual side has not even attempted to refute". Since y'all seem to appreciate each other's inability to make a logical argument so much, I'll donate your common symbol:

I'm goin' to bed. I'll let y'all fight over who gets to use it as their signature.

Humor is incredibly subjective. I'm no psychologist and I don't play one on TV. However, I know that the world can be divided into groups:

Those who "get" Monty Python and those who don't.

Those who "get" the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy ('so long, and thanks for all the fish') and those who don't.

Those who think blue humor is the highest form of humor and those who see no humor at all in blue humor.

Those who keep Nancy (& Sluggo) on the comics page and those who see no discernible humor in Nancy.

The groups aren't exclusive. I laugh at Monty Python and the Hitchhiker's Guide, generally stay away from blue humor, and dislike Nancy to a point that comes close to requiring expert medical attention. My wife agrees with me on the last two points, but tilts her head at Monty Python or the Hitchhiker's Guide and gives a quizzical "what?" look like a dog staring at a ceiling fan.

My eleven year-old daughter and I can repeat the "interrupting cow" knock-knock joke an infinite number of times and laugh. My wife doesn't think it's funny.

I generally can't stand Garfield -- I think the strip has three or four jokes that are repeated, ad nauseum. Others like it and I say with perfect sincerity: Glad you do. The world needs more laughter. Wish I could find it funny, because I like to be amused.

I tried about three months of Achewood. It's the kind of humor that is probably not only an acquired taste (where you HAVE to read three months' worth), but the kind of humor many people won't find funny. There's nothing wrong with you or those who responded to say they didn't like the strip. If I weren't so lazy, I'd track down their screen names and include them in this response.

That said, I found part of Achewood wonderfully witty while other strips whizzed by over my head. I have to laugh when a character responds to the question, "what did you get X for his birthday" with something along the lines of "a brief respite on his way to the grave."

Thanks for introducing me to the strip, which I have bookmarked. On the other hand, I have no argument with others who don't find that funny.
