Why would a troop take orders from a journalists?

Most likely because they had been with us for a few days and the journalists made some friends with some of the troops. I explained to the men later that these guys were not our friends. That if we had let them film us burning down this village it would have been all over the news and made the anti war mob happy as hell.
By the way, thank you for your service. Note to top dogs: Drill into new recruits heads that JOURNALISTS ARE NOBODIES. THEY DON'T HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO TELL YOU WHAT TO DO.
