In October of 87 two low pressure systems (essentially hurricanes) merged just before giving the mainland of Great Britain the worst storm they had had in 100 years.

Bumping this thread as Joe Bastardi of AccuWeather is more sure this morning (than he was even yesterday) that Wilma and Alpha will merge, resulting in BAM BAM superstorm that will affect the Northeast tomorrow night into Wednesday.

Joe will get more details up later today but for now, he is saying gale force winds on the mid-Atlantic coast with hurricane force gusts of wind on the New England south coast. He predicts that Alpha will get sucked up by Wilma heading up the coast tomorrow and cause a "rogue" superstorm with heavy "tree-breaking" snows in the Northeast interior all the way down to interior PA.
