This is much worse than expected.

In the streets, office furniture and broken glass bobbed in water that sloshed between buildings. Residents watched the debris float by from upstairs balconies.

If big enough and flat enough, broken glass will float. So will iron if in the right shape. Broken windows will float easily if lying flat on the water.
