Wow! I'm first in something.... :)

Well, if Wilma causes a snowstorm in the NE, you might be pinging me a bit earlier.

Just wanting to make sure I have a post here, so it's on my list--kept losing the last one for not posting enough. Kept up through the night and have been sleeping today, now I'm back on watch--or will be shortly, after getting caught up on other readings and having some din-din.

Oh, are we doing food reports? Pot stickers for late lunch; taco salad coming up for dinner. (A real one, not one with Catalina dressing that I've seen some others talk about. Yikes.)

From 20:45 to 22:15, the shift to the right is quite noticeable. Of course, it could be a wobble as she comes off the coast into a new environment, but it wouldn't surprise me if she's starting to turn.

"...Alpha becomes the twenty-second named storm of the season and
breaks the all-time record for the most active season on record... "

Let's see...

1. All time most active Atlantic season.

2. All time lowest pressure for any Atlantic hurricane.

3. All time most rapid development, 0 to 60 in lt 24 hours.

4. All time earliest major hurricane in the Gulf.

5. All time poorest state and local response in history, including Bangladesh.

6. All time most expensive hurricane.

7. All time record for most major Gulf hurricanes (?)

Did I miss any?

No matter, it's all downhill from now on, the worst hurricane season ever, almost behind us.

Unless next year's worse.

I've seen their Navy. It was one battleship in port at Zihuatanejo. A local told me that was the whole navy.

Spin Alert: Beware of the record being touted (seriesly) on NBC News just now. Cuba holds the record for least number of people killed in hurricanes. The reported number is 38 (ever).

Yeah, right.

I will..if I can figure it out! I'm one of those..a little of this..a handful of that and a few of those, kind of cooks. This is a good project though- I'll ponder on it. The ingredients are the easy part. Red potatos, white vinegar, sugar, bacon, flour, onions, water S & P. I'll let you know how it all goes together in FReepmail post Wilma:)

Prayers are going up for all you folks who live in the path of Wilma. I don't think I could keep rebuilding time after time. I would have given up and moved inland long ago, but then, I'm a BIG chicken. :o)

Is there a post-Wilma world? I was beginning to think she'd be around forever. I'm sure the folks in Cancun thought so.

Yup, it was good too. There's a tiny town about 8 miles away, with a bar/reseraunt that makes great pizza, deep dish pan with whatever you want for $14. For $15 I can make two of my own, which are a little better, but that takes a lot more chopping.

I vaporized it, while watching Galaxy Quest.

"Even the Mexican Army can't get through

Oh my, I was thinking the same thing.

The only reason the Mexican Army exists in Quointana Roo (Cancun is part of it) is to stop drug running.

If they came upon an emergency they wouldn't have a clue what to do.

Yes, there is a joke in there somewhere. It starts with Vincente Fox I'm sure.

I'm expecting another report from Merida very shortly. Amazing, land phone lines are still working.

I have several camping and backpacking stoves, and one of my favorite power-off meals is a couple packs of chicken Ramen, both flavor packets, a can of white meat chicken, and lemon-pepper seasoning to taste. It's a five minute fix, requires minimal water, and clean-up is easy if you get to it quickly.
