My impression has been that the biggest mouths against Miers are those who cannot abide an heretic.

It doesn't add value to the discussion to call people who disagree with you "big mouths".

Neither does it add value to imply that they are religious fanatics, like the Taliban.

In certain quarters Ms. Miers is, in fact, technically speaking, a religious heretic. I thought it interesting that the folks most concerned with such things were the VERY FIRST to pop up to oppose her nomination.

You'd think folks would be beyond that kind of Religious Wars nonsense, but apparantly they are not.

They won't concede that there is ANY reasonable argument against her nomination. So what's to discuss?
