Oh I agree 100%, my sarcastic barb was at the high $ commie big name colleges, My kids can go to community college on my dime and transfer to a 4 year in state later if they wish but will work throughout their studies. Or they may do what I did and provide 4-6 years of service and have the .gov help out.

I was trying to point out that a lot of kids just expect that they can enjoy a 5-6 year ride at a high dollar place without any effort on their part, that right there sets up the framework of socialism, why the hell should I work hard mommie and daddy will take care of things.
