Christian DVD sparks riot Muslims clash with police outside Egyptian church; 1 dead, 90 wounded Friday, October 21, 2005; Posted: 10:01 p.m. EDT (02:01 GMT) Demonstrators gather at a Coptic Christian church Friday to denounce a play deemed offensive to Islam. One person died and more than 90 were injured as thousands of Muslims rioted outside a Coptic Christian church Friday to denounce a play deemed offensive to Islam. Police said 53 protesters were arrested as people hurled stones, smashed windows and tried to storm St. George Church. Protesters also set a police car on fire and wrecked eight other cars, the Interior Ministry said in a statement. A photographer for The Interior Ministry described the protesters as "fanatic elements" who "escalated a negative reaction to a play." "The police tried to prevent (the demonstrators) from approaching the church and attacking it, but the protesters did not heed the warnings and started to hurl stones at the church, security forces and pedestrians," the ministry said. The riot was sparked by the distribution of a DVD of a play that was performed at the church two years ago. The play, "I Was Blind But Now I Can See," tells the story of a young Christian who converts to Islam and becomes disillusioned. The church's director, the Rev. Augustinous, said it was difficult to explain the reaction to a one-time performance that took place two years ago. Coptic Christians make up about 10 percent of Egypt's 70 million people, who are overwhelmingly Muslim. Accusations of forced conversion are common in the country. A similar thing happened at my local video store a couple years ago when those who rented Gigli rioted.
I'm going to start one if Blockbuster doesn't carry more than one copy of "Earnest Goes to Camp".
Actually it's only one thing among many.
There's also things like stoning women to death for the "sin" of having been raped, flogging and/or scarring young women for allowing their faces to be seen in public, mutilating little girls genitals so they can never experience sexual pleasure as adults, etc, etc. The list of Islamic outrages against humanity goes on ad infinitum.

You are right of course. A case should be made revoking Islam's protection as a "religion" under the First Amendment.
I'll stick with what Ann Coulter said...invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity...now more than ever.

Amazing how tolerant the muslim slimeballs are isn't it? Has anyone noticed that the muslims and the liberals act exactly the same way? As long as you agree with their viewpoint they love you, disagree they will kill you as is the case with muslims, or wish you dead (or trash your car, destroy your property or attack you verbally) in the case of a liberal. Liberals are nothing but Islam terrorists - both exhibit the same fanaticism....liberalism may be a mental disease but it most certainly also has the characteristics of a radical religion....

IMHO both are mental/spiritual diseases. Islam has strong political overtones and liberalism is a similar to a fanatical religion in many respects.
