A true conservative couldn't get through this senate.
The last time the GOP held more seats than they do now in the Senate was the 71st Congress from 1929-1931.
We got Rehnquist with a Democrat majority of 54, Scalia with a GOP majority of 53, and Thomas with a Democrat majority of 56.
I repeat: Thomas was confirmed in a Senate with a Democrat majority of 56.
All this talk about what we "can't do" is a cop-out from Republicans who are afraid of a little controversy.
They need to learn, and learn quick: Those who are afraid to exercise power soon lose it.
To hell with the Democrats, filibuster be damned!
So let President Bush make history as the first President ever to see his judicial nominee filibustered.
It would be a stain on the Democrats more shameful than Bork. Let them do it for all posterity!

This really does bear repeating. And the Dims were stronger as a party and a more credible threat at all political levels (local, state, federal) than they are right now.
The best way for us to lose our momentum and lose crucial races to the Dims is to continue with the open borders, the insane spending and a nominee like Miers. And that is why we're having the fight now, before it's too late.
